Build Sites for the Long Term

If you are into search engine optimization, then you may have built numerous sites over the past several years in order to profit quickly. Some of these automated sites may not have true content and were probably deindexed by the big search engines. If this sounds similar to your recent web site building, then it is time to switch tactics and go for the long haul.

With the large search engines constantly tweaking their algorithms to find true content web sites, now more than ever, content sites are growing more important and profitable. You don’t have to be a great writer or artist to create a beautiful, perfect web site, but you do have to be able to give relevant information to the people that are surfing your web pages. There are many ways you can take part in building quality sites, here are a few tips.

Use article directories and private free lance writers to fill your web pages with rich, relevant content. Make sure that your pages are not completely filled with advertisements or pop ups. Use the content on your web page to draw people in and stay on your web site for a while. The longer visitors stay on your web site, the more chances you have of them buying a product or returning to your web site for more information. So if you want your web site to last, fill it with relevant content.

Building a Web Site Slowly

For many search engine optimizers that wanted to monetize their web sites, the more web sites created the better. In fact, many SEO’s turned to computer generated web sites in order to create as many web sites with as many pages as possible. It was not uncommon for a SEO to have hundreds of web sites with thousands of web pages each. While that might have made lots of profits in the last couple of years, the search engines finally caught on and now there are algorithms that are weeding out many sites that are either computer generated or have poor content. Being able to adapt with the technology has sent many SEO’s back to the drawing board and now have them creating web sites and web pages slowly.

Many SEO’s are now creating a handful of web sites that they are putting their tender loving care into. Many SEO’s are creating web sites that create one or two pages each day and only have relevant or true content on those pages. Most SEO’s are experimenting with long term web sites that grow organically and are helpful for web surfers. So if you are looking for new directions to take your optimized web pages, build your web sites slowly and try out long term sites.

Keep Your Web Pages Relevant

Here is an important tip for all search engine optimizers. Although it is mostly common sense, it is extremely helpful if you want your web pages to become extremely successful and profitable- keep your web pages relevant.

While searching on the internet, many viewers complain that there is an over abundance of web sites that are continually off topic and just a mess for viewers to find information on. If you want your site to have stickiness, meaning that your viewers stay on your site for a long length of time then you will need to make sure that you are on topic and that your information is organized. Here are some tips to keeping your web pages relevant.

When creating your web site, lay out your pages well. Make sure that you know which information will be on each page. If you have your web pages optimized for a specific keyword on each page keep to that formula. Don’t create web pages with three different keywords or different affiliate products that don’t compliment each other on each page.

Make the web page layout organized. Don’t bunch the information all in one spot and then have large gaps. Don’t create borders that most would signify an end to the page, only to find out that there is plenty of information below the border. So follow these simple rules and your site will become for successful as it becomes more relevant.

Keep Web Site Errors to a Minimum

Making sure that your web site is error free is extremely important not only to your visitors but also to the search engines. A web site with lots of errors can quickly affect your bottom line and page rank. It is important to keep the following tips in mind when creating and maintaining your web site.

Common errors that occur are broken links, misspellings and web hosting errors.

Broken links are extremely common. You finally have a person that is interested in a product, service or page; they click on the hyperlink and get an error message that the page is not found.

We all sometimes make mistakes building our web sites. Make sure you double check and triple check your web hyperlinks. A common error is that we put the wrong url in the hyperlink or we do not include the full path.

Grammatical errors are also a problem. It’s not going to kill your web site if you have one or two grammatical errors, but if your web page is full of them, people will lose faith in your service or product and go somewhere else. Use spell check or proofread your content a second time. Ask someone else to proofread your content if you don’t have time. The less grammatical errors on your web site the better.

Another common mistake is that we inadvertently load our web pages incorrectly on our webhosting account. Make sure that files, php includes and images are all loaded properly onto your webhost account. A small mess up and you can have a page without images, advertisements or worse no page at all. Follow these quick tips and you will be on your way to a more profitable web site.
